Our Uncles
In each Ark, our boys and girls are guided by two Uncles or
Aunties. These young Zambian men and women volunteer their time,
energy and love to take care of our boys and girls. Many of our
Uncles/Aunties have come from difficult backgrounds themselves which
help them to understand what many of our young people are going
through.

Uncle Morgan

Uncle Morgan
Morgan, one of our first Uncles, has been with the project
since the beginning in 2001. He is a dedicated member of the Good
Samaritan Association, always adding valuable insight to the way in
which the project is run, and has come to be a great leader within the
project.
Our Teachers
Luyobolola Community School has 32 teachers who work on a volunteer
basis. They receive a small monetary appreciation at the end of each
month, however their hard work extends far beyond the
appreciation. The community of teachers at Luyobolola dedicate
themselves not only to providing the best possible education for our
pupils but also to knowing our pupils intimately. Due to the
background of our pupils, our teachers are always making house visits
in order to assess their living situation.

Collins Sililo
If a teacher discovers that
a pupil is in need in any way then they do their best to try and help
with that need.

Collins Sililo
Collins Sililo has been teaching at Luyobolola for 2
years as the class teacher for one of our Grade 5 classes. Currently
Mr. Sililo, together with Mr. Hatakwati, are putting together a
basketball team for the school.
Our Artists
The talented Artists of Luka Villa come from the Mazabuka community.
They are able to expose their artwork to an international community
which is not an opportunity many Zambian artists will have in their
lifetime. They work incredibly hard and like many artists all over the
world have a passion for the art they are creating. Their business
thrives on overseas visitors who are generally delighted and impressed
with the work that the Artists produce.

Isaac Manda
Most notably the uniqueness
of the Art, it is unlike anything you will find in the rest of Zambia
or Africa.

Isaac Manda
Isaac Manda has worked in the Luka Villa Art Centre for two years. His
specialties are masks and figurines. He is a member of the board of
Luka Villa Art Centre.
Our Volunteers
Volunteers come from all over the world to assist in the projects. The
majority of volunteers come from Italy however there have also been
volunteers joining us from the United States, Ireland and Australia.

Lauren Bicknell
Both international and Zambian volunteers learn much through the
cultural interchange that takes place living and working side by
side. Some volunteers come for weeks, some for months and others for
years.

Lauren Bicknell
Lauren Bicknell, from Melbourne, Australia is staying for a
period of 16 months in Mazabuka. Her primary role is working in the
school. When she is not at school the best place to find her is on
the basketball court.

Paulo Taffuri
Our Parish Team

Father Kennedy
Assumption Parish has a large involvement with Good Samaritan
Association. Parish priests, Father Maurizio and Father Kennedy are
deeply involved in the projects of Good Samaritan. They are supported
by a group of religious that comprise the parish team. Both priests
have committed themselves entirely to the parish and also our
projects.

Father Maurizio
Fr. Kennedy was born in Chikuni which is two hours south-west of
Mazabuka. A Tonga by tribe, he is invaluable to the work we do as he
really understands the people. Fr. Maurizio hails from Besozzo, Italy
and is a true Italian who loves his food. He has a deep love and an
innate gift for dealing with youth and understanding their needs. Both
men have created a family atmosphere and are the father figures for
our youth.
